The award recognises the contribution of an individual in elevating the visibility and importance of Australian women receiving equitable access to higher levels of leadership across all industry and all forms of organisation.

Anne said it’s an honour to receive the award in recognition of her leadership as an advocate for women and girls in the Territory.

“I am humbled to follow in the footsteps of the fantastic and accomplished group of women who have won this award previously, and to share in this honour with such a respected Aboriginal Elder.

“For the past four years, I have led a Northern Territory Women’s Leadership Network, which continues to bring women together to inspire and be inspired by encouraging cultural change through positive leadership. I am passionate about working with others to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.

“I feel fortunate to work with inspirational female mentors, who continue to support me to achieve personal and professional success.”

The Northern Territory Government Women’s Leadership Network’s intent is to bring women together to inspire and be inspired, to encourage cultural change through positive leadership, to promote female role models, and to provide women with opportunities to develop, network and share. The key to this program is building confidence among existing and emerging leaders.

Anne is also a strong leader in the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade’s Biosecurity and Animal Welfare team, with a passion that extends to her work as Chief Plant Health Officer for the Northern Territory.

The Northern Territory Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership recipient said she’s thrilled to have the opportunity to empower women to take leadership roles in science, specifically in biosecurity.

“Science provides us with an opportunity to think about things differently and to apply new or innovative ways of thinking to solve complex problems. Attracting, retaining and promoting women in science promotes diversity in thinking and can potentially lead to better outcomes for our industries and our communities.”

The Women & Leadership Awards are nominated by members of the community and aim to increase visibility of outstanding Australian female leaders and build momentum for gender equity in leadership positions across all industries and the broader community.

Thank you Anne for being an advocate and inspiration for our community, especially women, and women in science and technology. .
