Expressions of Interest are sought to join the NT Racing Appeals Tribunal

Expressions of Interest are sought from persons interested in becoming a member or the Deputy Chairman of the Northern Territory Racing Appeals Tribunal (the Tribunal).

The Tribunal is established under the Racing and Betting Act 1983 and hears appeals from persons aggrieved by decisions of a steward or a race club in the Northern Territory.

Successful applicants will be appointed by the Minister for Racing, Gaming and Licensing for a period of up to three years, and will receive sitting fees pursuant to the Assembly Members and Statutory Officers (Remuneration and Other Entitlements) Act 2006.

To be considered as a member of the Tribunal, an applicant must have sound knowledge of greyhound racing, horse racing or trotting. To be considered as Deputy Chairman, an applicant will also be required to either be a Supreme Court Judge, a Local Court Judge or a lawyer.

Successful applicants may be subject to a satisfactory criminal history check.
