The Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade’s Plant Industry Branch has a new extension officer.

Michael Finey will be working with the team across a broad range of agricultural activities. He will focus on assisting industry to implement the latest research and development outcomes in their agricultural production systems.

Michael completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science at Charles Darwin University. He then joined the department in 2017 as a plant biosecurity officer, working to improve the biosecurity practices of the Territory’s agricultural industries and increase market access for our primary products.

Michael is passionate about the development of northern Australian agriculture and looks forward to working with industry, partners and stakeholders across the Territory.
