Victoria River Research Station (Kidman Springs)

The Department of Tourism, Industry and Trade in conjunction with Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and the Northern Territory Cattleman’s Association, will be holding an industry event, including a research field day and Beef Up forum.

The event planned for Victoria River Research Station on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 August 2021 has been moved to the Daly Waters Historic Pub on Friday 19 November and Saturday 20 November 2021. The field day was rescheduled due to the recent COVID-19 lockdown in Katherine. The venue has been changed to provide more suitable accommodation for attendees staying overnight when it would otherwise be uncomfortably warm at the Victoria River Research Station.

An updated agenda will be available soon on the MLA’s website. The aim of the event remains the same - for Northern Territory beef producers and pastoral industry stakeholders to be provided with an opportunity to be updated with recent research outcomes, interact with expert speakers and proactively examine developing issues and opportunities within the industry, including:

  • carbon farming opportunities
  • maximising the beef enterprise profitability
  • effective rangeland management.

The field day will be addressing the growing interest surrounding carbon farming, maximising production with available resources, the ever-changing market, and future ramifications and diversification in the north.

This event will be fully catered with camping space available for attendees.

To register for this event or hold a trade display, please contact Eleanor Fordyce from Livestock Industry Development at eleanor.fordyce@nt.gov.au or call 08 8973 9730.
