Plans and reports (forming part of deemed licences)

From 1 July 2024, projects authorised under the Mining Management Act (MMA) 2001 are automatically deemed to hold an environmental (mining) licence under the Environment Protection Act 2019. This is called a deemed licence.

Read more about deemed licences on the NT Government website.

Mining management plans (MMPs)

MMPs are assessed for 3 categories of mining activity:

  • exploration
  • extractive mineral
  • mining operations.

MMPs for exploration projects have been available on the department’s website since 2016. MMPs for major mines are also publicly available.

To request to view any MMPs that are not currently published, email mineral.infoDEPWS@nt.gov.au.
