Energy pipelines environmental reports

Energy Pipelines are pipelines licensed under the Energy Pipelines Act and the Energy Pipeline Regulations to carry energy producing hydrocarbons (such as crude and refined oil and gas) at high pressures.

Construction and operation of Energy Pipelines may not be undertaken unless the licensee has an approved pipeline management plan and consent to conduct the activity. Licensees must then file regular reports on compliance with the pipeline management plans - an important component of these reports being environmental management.

Department policy is to make the environmental component of licensee’s pipeline management compliance reports public within 14 days after acceptance by the department.
