Alcohol policies and legislation review final report
In March 2017, the Northern Territory (NT) Government commissioned Trevor Riley QC to chair an independent advisory panel to review alcohol policies and legislation.
The advisory panel was tasked with making recommendations about alcohol harm prevention and management. These would form the basis of a regulatory framework.
In October 2017, the alcohol policies and legislation review was handed down. It became known as the Riley Review.
Recommendations in the report
The review included reforms to minimise alcohol-fuelled violence and crime.
It contained 220 recommendations. Of which, 219 were accepted or accepted in-principle by government.
The only recommendation rejected was the proposed ban on all Sunday takeaway alcohol sales.
