Facing North

Facing North

Facing North is a collaborative arrangement between the Darwin Major Business Group and the Northern Territory (NT) Government. The initiative provides a unique opportunity for NT businesses and industry representatives to meet with federal parliamentarians and key government and industry decision makers and forge key relationships for the future business and economic benefit to the Territory.

The inaugural event was attended by 300 people in 2017 and the program grew and evolved to include roundtable industry meetings held alongside the evening showcase and reception in 2019. Over 500 guests including the Prime Minister, federal leader of the opposition, federal senators and members, business and industry leaders and a NT delegation of more than 200 business and industry representatives attended the 2019 event.

Facing North 2023

In August 2023, the NT Government and the Darwin Major Business Group will lead a Facing North delegation to Canberra, representing the Territory’s interests. The event showcases the Territory as a diverse economy with real opportunities to federal parliamentarians and key government, business and industry decision makers to further cement the position of the Territory as vital to Australia’s resilience, growth and prosperity.

Facing North will be held in Australian Parliament House on Wednesday 2 August 2023. The program includes a full day forum with facilitated panel discussions and presentations to provide an overview of the Territory in a strategic, economic, commercial and cultural capacity. The forum will be followed by a formal reception in the Great Hall to showcase the capacity and breadth of Territory businesses and the enormous potential the Territory has to offer.
