Incident Response Training

The aim of the training is to build confidence and improve the performance of responders when working in control and coordination centres.

The training is designed to provide participants with enhanced understanding and appreciation of the dynamics of working in emergency response control and coordination centres.

The training will expose participants to elements generally associated with a biosecurity emergency response, including function roles, effective awareness and systems use, and effective communication.

The key outcomes are:

  • consistent skills and capabilities of personnel working in emergency management across northern Australia
  • the biosecurity sector in northern Australia is better placed to develop and maintain trained personnel
  • trained personnel can respond effectively to biosecurity incidents where one is detected in their jurisdiction
  • trained personnel can more effectively be deployed to another jurisdiction to support responses elsewhere through shared knowledge, understanding and training
  • the capacity to respond to exotic pest threats in northern Australia is increased
