Asia Fruit Logistica - Showcasing the Territory’s premium produce

The Northern Territory Government, in partnership with Hort Innovation, attended Asia’s leading trade show to forge new export opportunities for the Territory’s fruit industry.

Asia Fruit Logistica (AFL) is Asia’s leading trade show, covering the entire fresh produce industry value chain. 13,000 trade visitors from more than 40 countries were expected to attend to see the latest innovative products, ideas in the horticulture sector and develop agri-import-export relationships.

The mission resulted in new supply chain contacts in key markets for the Territory. Harvest Hill Orchard, one of Australia’s largest dragonfruit farms, Humpty Doo Barramundi and premium mangoes were showcased through renowned international Chef, Jaakko Sorsa. The Northern Australia Aboriginal Kakadu Plum Alliance’s highly sought after Kakadu Plum also gained interest from tradeshow attendees.

Liza Marasigan-Nguyen from Harvest Hill Orchard said:

“The experience has been amazing. 13,000 people attended the tradeshow. Interacting with people from across the international supply chain has presented a number of potential opportunities for us. We have met a lot of people from across the world including from China and Hong Kong, Dubai, Korea, Canada, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia who are very interested in our fruit, particularly our Aussie Gold dragonfruit.

We know we have good quality produce and the biggest takeaway has been we will have to tailor our presentation and packaging to suit markets.

We now have a number of good ideas on how we can improve on our already great product. We would like to thank the Northern Territory Government and Hort Innovation for this great opportunity and Austrade for providing invaluable in-country information and support.

I had no expectations of what the tradeshow would be like or how it might benefit us specifically, but I knew that the exposure would be good for our business.”
