Do you operate a business or oganisation in a remote town?

During September, Charles Darwin University (CDU), on behalf of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade will be sending out the 2023 Remote Towns Jobs Survey.

The survey will be emailed to organisations and businesses with an ABN located in one of the 28 remote towns in the Northern Territory (NT): Ali Curung,  Alyangula, Angurugu, Borroloola, Daguragu/Kalkarindji, Docker River, Elliott, Galiwin'ku, Gunbalanya, Imanpa, Lajamanu, Lake Evella (Gapuwiyak), Maningrida, Milikapiti, Milingimbi, Mutitjulu, Ngukurr, Ntaria (Hermannsburg), Numbulwar, Papunya, Pirlangimpi, Ramingining, Umbakumba, Utopia (Alparra), Wadeye, Wurrumiyanga (Nguiu), Yirrkala and Yuendumu.

The survey aims to capture the number of businesses, jobs and job holders in each identified remote town.

How information will be used

Information collected from the survey will be used to create a detailed profile of businesses, jobs, skills and training for each community. It will assist with planning and design of current and future government programs as well workforce planning to improve employment outcomes for local people in the remote towns.

This is the fourth survey undertaken, with previous surveys conducted in 2011, 2014 and 2017. In 2017, the surveys were an overwhelming success and produced a 95% response rate, with 429 employers reporting over 7,420 jobs.

To view the 2017 survey results and current community profiles, go to the NT Government website.
