VET provider makes their mark

A boutique training company found that the phone didn’t stop ringing after it won a Territory training award.

WANT Training Services was named Small Training Provider of the Year at the 2022 Training Awards.

“We were gobsmacked,” said Sharon Stewart, who runs the NT and Western Australia business with Robyn DeJong.

“We’re a small operation and relatively unknown compared with some of the companies we were up against.

“Winning the award gave us a great profile. It verified our spot in the Territory.

“We’ve been very busy since then.”

Ms Stewart encouraged other training companies to enter the awards this year.

“It helps establish your position in the market,” she says.

WANT, which trains VET trainers, is training about 80 students, mostly in Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

“In taking what was delivered in a traditional face-to-face program and combining it with the bells and whistles of the online learning platform, our recipe for bespoke, contemporary and successful online resources was developed.”

The NT Training Awards are the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade annual premier event recognising training excellence and achievements.

Awards are open to businesses, training organisations, apprentices, trainees, trainers and students.

Nominations are now open, for further details on the awards go to trainingawards.nt.gov.au
