Funding for solutions to attract and retain skilled workers

Local businesses and industry experiencing critical workforce shortages are invited to apply for support under the Flexible Workforce Solutions Fund.

The fund encourages business, organisations and industry bodies to collaborate on projects and form a consortium or partnership to attract and retain the skilled workforce they need.

Grants of up to $200,000 are available on a 25:75 co-contribution basis. This means the consortium only have to contribute 25% of the total works while the Flexible Workforce Solutions Fund covers 75% of the total. The co-contribution for not-for-profit organisations can be in-kind.

Types of eligible activities include strategies to support seasonal worker mobility across industries, leveraging technology to connect employers with workers, delivery of direct in-country worker recruitment services and innovative workforce planning solutions.

Previous grant recipients include:

  • Crest NT in partnership with the care and Vocational Education Training (VET) sectors who will recruit 85 workers in the 55+ age bracket, to deliver jobs for both the disability and aged care and VET sectors.
  • Hospitality NT and 11 licensed local venues who formed a consortium to recruit more than 100 skilled workers from the United Kingdom and Ireland with targeted seminars and events.
  • Master Builders and a consortium of local construction companies who will lead three expos in Philippines and India to bring up to 600 overseas workers to the Territory

Applications for the Flexible Workforce Solutions Fund are open and will remain open all year or until funding is expended.
