Short-stay accommodation in Katherine and Nhulunbuy - market analysis reports

Market analysis for potential short-stay accommodation development in Katherine and Nhulunbuy.

The Northern Territory Government engaged KPMG to undertake a market analysis into the potential development and ongoing operation of new commercial short-stay accommodation options in Katherine and Nhulunbuy.

Anecdotally, the availability, quality and pricing of current accommodation options in these regional centres is lacking, and this is restricting economic growth in the regions.

The small size of the Territory economy means that major project investments can have a disproportionately large impact on overall growth, affecting short-term accommodation supply and demand as construction phases ramp up.

The objective of the market analysis was to document an evidence-base, quantifying the nature and quantum of the demand gap, and identifying the most appropriate accommodation options to fill this gap.
