Territory to again host internationally renowned LIVEXchange conference

The Northern Territory (NT) Government will be supporting industry and promoting trade at LIVEXchange 2022, the major event for Australia’s livestock export industry.

The conference, which runs from 9 to 10 November, attracts around 400 delegates nationally and internationally, and will address key industry issues such as biosecurity threats and preparedness, sustainability, supply chain logistics, regulation and managing animal welfare in destination markets.

The Territory’s geographic position is also uniquely advantageous, with a prime proximity to southeast Asia, and helps build the NT as a significant contributor to Australia’s international trade.

The NT Government is working with industry to expand the global reach through international trade, investment and engagement, and this event is an important opportunity to build relations and promote the capabilities of the Territory’s live export industry and supply chain.

Building these relationships and preparation is paramount, with the very real threat of lumpy skin disease, and foot and mouth disease, as well as the detection of Japanese encephalitis in the Territory in the last year.

The NT Government recently announced an immediate $2.9 million biosecurity boost, to prepare the Territory’s agribusiness industries to respond to increasing biosecurity threats which would have devastating consequences for our agricultural sector and regional economies.

This investment is in addition, to the Budget 2022 commitment of $1.9 million bringing the total biosecurity package to $4.8 million this financial year.
