Local success story MaveriX premiers tomorrow on ABC ME

MaveriX, the largest local production ever to be filmed in the Red Centre, is set to premiere tomorrow night, at 5.30pm on ABC ME and ABC iView.

Filming of the series commenced in Alice Springs in April 2021, with the Territory Government as an equity investor in the series, investing a record $1.5 million into the production.

The 10-part children’s drama TV series follows six junior motocross riders who join an academy of elite riders in Alice Springs to make the national titles and along the way make life-long friendships.

Produced by Alice Springs based Brindle Films, MaveriX was an original idea by award winning producer / writer Rachel Clements and was inspired by her son Digby, who as the under-10 Central Australian BMX champion wanted to start racing dirt bikes and join the junior club championships.

Rachel Clements and Trisha Morton-Thomas have brought this fantastic series, filmed in the Northern Territory’s (NT) Red Centre, to young audiences and their families across Australia and the globe.

The series will be broadcast in Australia exclusively on ABC ME and ABC iView.

International audiences can watch the series on Netflix, with the NT’s Red Centre showcased to an audience of 200 million subscribers across 190 countries.

Quotes from Brindle Films, Rachel Clements:

“We’re excited, but nervous!  We have spent 6 years working on this show and during development and production the creators have a bit of control over things. But when you send your babies out into the world, it’s now up to the audiences to engage or not, and the show becomes a different beast.”

“MaveriX could not have been produced without the support of the NT Government. Without their support, we would never have been able to film in our home town nor have created a show that is authentic to the NT. The NT Government was a vital partner in MaveriX and this is as much their show as it is anyone’s.”
