The Northern Territory Government’s efforts to support the melon industry are bearing fruit.

Overseas workers have been arriving in regional areas to help produce, pick and pack sweet melons across the Territory.

Melons from Ali Curung are due to hit the shelves next week, marking the start of the harvest season.

The Territory’s melon industry contributes to more than 20 percent of Australia’s production and around 75,000 tonnes of melons are due to be picked locally in the coming months.
