NT white card applications go digital


Applying for a Northern Territory (NT) white card just got easier, with the release of a new online process.

Construction workers now have the option of applying online, in person or via mail.

All construction workers in the Northern Territory are required to have an NT white card in order to work on a construction site. They’re also required to show their card as proof of training, if asked by a principal contractor of a worksite they are entering, a work health and safety entry permit holder or a Worksafe inspectors.

In order to receive a NT white card you must first undertake general construction induction training (GCIT) delivered by an approved registered training organisation (RTO).

Once you’ve received your statement of attainment from the RTO:

  • visit the Can-do Territory website and make sure you have supporting documentation (i.e. driver’s licence, birth certificate to verify your identity and pay when you submit online)
  • complete the form online by following the prompts, hit submit, the system then sends the form to the right place
  • you’ll receive notifications of status updates, including when it’s ready
  • you’ll receive your physical card in the post or you can collect it from a Territory Business Centre.
