Code of conduct for mineral explorers in the Northern Territory released today

Published

The new code of conduct for mineral explorers has been released to provide guidance about how exploration work should be conducted in the Northern Territory (NT).

The code applies to all mineral exploration on pastoral land and private land in the NT.

The code is the result of a collaboration between the:

  • Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade
  • Minerals Council of Australia NT Division
  • Association of Mining and Exploration Companies.

Holders of new exploration licences granted on or after 1 January 2020 will be provided with a copy of the code.

Although adoption of the code is not mandatory, all explorers, employees or contractors are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the code.
