What employers must do
Detailed steps that employers must follow when applying for the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) (subclass 494) visa.
If not an approved standard business sponsor (SBS), make an application for approval as a SBS. For more information on how to become an SBS, go to the Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs website.
A subclass 494 nomination cannot be approved by Department of Home Affairs unless the regional certifying body (RCB) has provided its advice in regard to the application.
Northern Territory (NT) employers must submit an application for assessment to the NT RCB using the regional certifying body advice form 1404 and supporting documents. Get the form 1404 from the Department of Home Affairs website. You must complete and submit this form by email to MigrationNT. Read more about applying for a NT RCB assessment.
The NT RCB will provide the assessment outcome to both the nominating employer and the Department of Home Affairs.
Employers and registered migration agents are strongly encouraged to lodge applications for RCB certifications and obtain RCB advice before submitting nomination applications to the Department of Home Affairs.
The employer will need to submit the RCB advice to Department of Home Affairs by attaching the signed form, using the Department of Home Affairs eLodgement facility, to the corresponding nomination application (see step 3 below).
An RCB assessment should not be dated more than three months prior to lodgement of the subclass 494 nomination or Department of Home Affairs may request the employer to obtain a new RCB assessment.
The business must submit an online nomination application to the Department of Home Affairs via Immi Account. Read more about applying online on the Department of Home Affairs website.
The nominated employee must submit their visa application online through Immi Account within six months of the Department of Home Affairs’ approval of the employer’s nomination.
The Department of Home Affairs assesses the nomination and the visa application and notifies the employer and employee of the outcome.
