Gunn Point Emerging Agribusiness Precinct

The Gunn Point Emerging Agribusiness Precinct is a pilot project of 260 ha of land with opportunities for horticulture production.

The precinct is being built to test new ways of growing crops, farming and using irrigation.

It will be used to see if these new methods can be successful and profitable, and if they can be used in other farming areas in the Territory.

This project is funded under a $6.3m partnership between the Northern Territory (NT) and Australian Government’s National Water Grid Authority.

Background

The greater Gunn Point Peninsula has been earmarked for conservation, recreation, tourism and primary industries such as agriculture, horticulture and aquaculture.

It is ideally located with significant development potential with:

  • all weather road access
  • proximity to market
  • nearby transport hubs and a local workforce.

Expression of interest

An expression of interest seeking proponents to utilise the precinct is anticipated for late 2023.

It will be coordinated by the NT Government’s Agribusiness Development team, NT Land Corporation and NT Farmers Association.
