About Basement Jacks: Where’s your Stock at?

Mangrove Jack samples are vital to help researchers with this two-year sustainable resource management project.

The project aims to get better data about ‘stock structure’ to better understand the species’ movements to improve sustainable fishing.

Samples will help researchers understand how to support sustainable management of fish resources and provide more data on levels of connectivity between populations.

The nation-wide FRDC funded project is in close collaboration with Fisheries NT, Aboriginal Ranger Groups, inter-state universities and the Amateur Fisherman’s Association Northern Territory (AFANT).
