Agricultural field days
The purpose of field days is to:
- demonstrate the latest department research
- discuss the challenges impacting producers and growers
- showcase technology and innovation, and
- support knowledge sharing between government, industry and producers.
Extension encourages the uptake of research and technology on farms to improve outcomes for Northern Territory agricultural producers.
Field days reinforce the department’s support on the ground to deliver greater ‘on farm’ impact of research work.
The department invites interested pastoralists, growers, business owners, industry organisations and research bodies to attend agricultural field days.
Victoria River Research Station field day - 19 and 20 November 2021
The department, in conjunction with the Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and the Northern Territory Cattleman’s Association, will be holding an industry event, including a research field day and Beef Up forum.
The event planned for Victoria River Research Station on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 August 2021 has been moved to the Daly Waters Historic Pub on Friday 19 November and Saturday 20 November 2021. The venue has been changed to provide more suitable accommodation for attendees staying overnight when it would otherwise be uncomfortably warm at the Victoria River Research Station.
The field day will hold the Meat and Livestock Australia BeefUp forum which provides northern Australian beef producers an opportunity to interact with expert speakers and proactively examine developing issues and opportunities within the industry including:
- carbon farming opportunities
- maximising the beef enterprise profitability
- effective rangeland management
- update on ongoing research.
Time: 8am to 4.30pm
Location: Daly Waters Historic Pub, Stuart Highway
The field day will also include a trade display.
