Update on secondary registration

The Veterinary Board of the Northern Territory still require locum veterinarians to be registered. Any secondary registration of veterinarians are required to complete the secondary registration form below.

To practice as a veterinarian in the Northern Territory (NT) you must be registered with the Veterinary Board of the NT.

Veterinary qualifications for registration are prescribed in schedule 1 of the veterinarians regulations and include:

Qualified veterinarians may make application to the AVBC advisory committee to be recognised as a veterinary specialist.

Prescribed fee is $186.00.

How to register

To register as a veterinarian in the NT follow the steps below:

Step 1: Complete the application

Step 2: Submit application and supporting documents

You must include the following documents with your application:

  1. a certified copy of your qualification (unless you are currently registered in another state / territory of Australia, in which case this would not be required)
  2. a letter of good standing from the most recent board that you have been registered with
  3. credit card authorisation form PDF (75.7 KB) (if paying fee by credit card)
    credit card authorisation form DOCX (82.9 KB) (if paying fee by credit card).

Submit your application to the Veterinary Board of the NT.

Locum veterinarians are required to complete the secondary registration form.

How to register

To register as a locum veterinarian in the NT follow the steps below:

Step 2: Submit application and supporting documents 

  1. a certified copy of your qualification (unless you are currently registered in another state / territory of Australia, in which case this would not be required)
  2. a letter of good standing from the most recent board that you have been registered with.

Submit your application to the Veterinary Board of the NT.

If you are a veterinary science graduate with a degree from a university in Australia or New Zealand you are eligible to apply for registration in the NT.

You must be registered prior to commencing work in the NT.

Prescribed fee is $186.00.

How to register

  1. a certified copy of your qualification
  2. if you have never been registered provide certification from the university giving details of the degree to which you were admitted, the date of admitted, and that you are of good character
  3. credit card authorisation form PDF (75.7 KB) (if paying fee by credit card)
    credit card authorisation form DOCX (82.9 KB) (if paying fee by credit card)

Submit your application to the Veterinary Board of the NT.
